Dandelions grow ferociously this time of year. One day there dapple yellow, the next day there a head of wispy seeds ready to take sail. I usually see them as nuisance and am reminded of my youth. My dad would pay me 1 penny/per 100 pulled from the yard. Who needs lawn guard’s weed-n-feed, when you have kids that are driving you crazy? :)
The other day Jess made a comment that really made me smile. We were passing a home that obviously didn’t have kid’s (or weed-n-feed) for it’s yard was covered with dandelions that had gone to seed. My first thought was ‘oh, I’m so glad that I’m not their neighbor. One good buff of wind and those seeds would be my problem.” But Jess’s comment made me stop and think how magical that yard must look to her…
“Wow, look at all those wish flowers!”
...and all I could see then was a child running around from stem to stem having the time of their life.
